Hand-washing is the way to go. It will greatly extend the life of your bras as well as soften up new materials.
However, NEVER wash bras in Woolite...it destroys the elastics. Instead, we recommend using SOAK wash in cool water.
Bonus: No Rinsing!
Though hand-washing is best, we know not everyone will do it.
So, when machine-washing bras, it is best to use a zippered lingerie bag and a delicate cycle.
This helps the wires keep their shape and the bra from being “wrung to death”.
By the way, it is improper care that shortens the bra’s life and can lead to wires breaking and poking out.
Air Drying is a MUST!
Remember to hang them only by the “cookie” or lay them flat.
You may get away with using the washing machine, but please DO NOT put bras in the dryer. Heat is the enemy of elastic & lycra, causing it to get brittle, break and stretch out quickly. The heat also causes the bra to lose its shape.
For the best fit, rotate your bras every day and wash them after wearing them ONLY TWICE.
The bra band should fit comfortably snug. When you pull the band from your back, you should be able to put no more than a golf ball (1.5-2 inches) in the space.
Your new bra may feel tight…may be too tight, at first. The materials are new and, like your favorite shoes, they need to be broken in a bit to be comfortable, especially if you have been wearing a bra too loosey-goosey. It takes wearing it 5 - 6 times and washing it a few times to break in a good bra.
Try wrapping it around the back of a chair and leave it over night. This will help to pre-stretch your new bra.
If you are finding it hard to wear in the beginning, don’t wear it all day. Instead, wear it for a few hours and then take it off. Then, put it on again later or the next day.
Don’t be tempted to stuff it into the back of your drawer and never wear it again. It will get more comfortable the more you wear it.
If you have ever had long hair, you have probably kept an emergency hair elastic around your wrist from time to time. When you remove it, there’s usually a slight indentation left behind, right? The same kind of indentions is left on your ankles or legs by your socks at the end of the day.
Wearing a bra is basically wrapping a giant elastic band around your chest and then wearing it for 8-14 hours or so. It’s normal for your body to have marks, indentations, or even a slight redness. You may even have imprints of the lace from frillier bras sometimes.
Why? Because we are humans! We are made of flesh…squishy…not stone!
A bra should never celebrate a birthday. The life of a bra depends on how much you wear it each week. I recommend having a minimum of 4-6 good bras to rotate through each week. Size also plays a facet in the life of a bra, larger sizes may only get 3-4 months of wear where smaller sizes may get 8-10 months of wear.
For the best fit, rotate your bras every day and wash them after wearing them ONLY TWICE.
I always fit you so you can start by using the loosest row of eyes and then as they stretch, you can tighten the band.
As the bra band stretches, you can tighten the band using the hools and eyes. When you have tightened the band as tight ad it goes and it is slipping up your back, it is time to replace the bra.
Chlorine is swimwear's kryptonite! If left on the suit, it will destroy the fibers, even if it's a long-life lycra or polyester suit. After swimming, rinse suit out in cold water to remove chlorine, line dry. Wash swimwear like you would wash a bra. Hand wash, never wash a suit in Woolite.
Like bras, you should NEVER machine dry swimwear, It is too hot for the material and makes it brittle over time. Air dry is best.
